Started in 1974

In 1974, my Dad started a gun shop. He kept bed in the back to keep cost low. He didn’t want the extra expense of housing! In Christmas 2004, my present to him a  website. His response was similar to when my brother got shoes as a gift. Not impressed.

A few days later, I went in and taught one of the staff how to add products. Then a guy called, “I want to buy the pink Ruger.” Dad asked him to come into the store to purchase. “I’m in Colorado” he responded. “Well how did you know we had a pink Ruger?” Dad asked. The guy replied, “I saw it on your website.”

Website Increased Sales

Then dad was excited. “How can we get every gun we have online?” He was beginning to see having a website as an easy way to increase sales. Keeping critical info on the site also helped customers get their questions answered without having to call the store.

The first site did not have eCommerce.  There was no shopping cart. People had to call to order. When I came on staff full time we gave them a way to check out on the site. Now people order online and come in the store to pick up or have it shipped. It is nice because we don’t have a lot of space and it helps us turn parking spots quickly.

Our website has been a key factor in increased sales. We collect email addresses and send out a weekly email with deals. We also share deals on Instagram and Facebook.

Last time I checked, we ranked high in local search results.  I went to an SEO professional for him to work on our site. “Not much I can do here,” he said, “You already rank number 1 for everything I would try.” That is the advantage of our platform. It has great SEO out of the box.

Our site is built for very little input. Very big output.
